On 11 – 12.10.2022, the HU Faculty of Applied Sciences hosted a two-day international training course as part of the “Numeracy in Practice” project managed by Utrecht University. The training was chaired by an esteemed Professor of Mathematics Kees Hoogland, who is the project coordinator. Together with partners from Austria, Ireland, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Slovenia, and France, we discovered the difference between numerical and mathematical competence, defined numerical areas, diagnosed areas of numerical awareness, and determined further activities in the project.
As part of the project, SIR – together with partners from Belgium, Turkey, and the Netherlands – is tasked with developing materials for use by researchers and teachers. We will announce the details of our activities soon. In the meantime, we invite you to read a photo report from the training.
The project is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ program.
