Visit the “Numeracy in Practice” project website!

We are happy to introduce you to the website that is being developed as part of the “Numeracy in Practice” project:

What shall you find on the site?

  • suggestions on how to develop numerical competence
  • results of a survey conducted in several European countries showing barriers to the development of numerical competence in adults
  • the rich literature on the subject for independent study

The project is co-financed by the European Union.

The leader of the project is The Hogeschool Utrecht. SIR is a partner in the project.

We attended the INTERNATIONAL COURSE on numeracy in Barcelona

We are proud to inform that Katarzyna Kowal and Katarzyna Zapała attended the INTERNATIONAL COURSE no 2 in Barcelona on September 5-6, 2023.

During two hectic days, in addition to the training, there were planned study visits to: the adult school “La Verneda – Sant Marti”, the Catalan Museum of Mathematics and the Gabriel García Márquez Public Library recognized as the best in the world in 2023 (by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions).

On the second day of the training, a lecture on good practices in distance learning, with particular emphasis on the role of surprise in the teaching process, was given by Katarzyna Zapała.

The course was held at the University of Barcelona under a project funded by EU funds titled “Numeracy in Practice”.

YC – Our project is a year old!

t has been a year since the kick-off meeting during which the project was organized. Like today, it was a sunny day in Poland during which we had the opportunity to discuss the project details, plan forthcoming activities, and get to know each other! On the premises of Stowarzyszenie Integracja i Rozwój in Kielce we spent a couple of hours making sure that every activity that was planned in the project proposal was clear for us and we were well-prepared to implement them. But what else have we successfully achieved during the last 12 months? See the list below:

  • We have developed the Handbook for Youth Workers: The Hows and Whys for cultural and creative entrepreneurship – which is available in 6 language versions: ENG, GR, PO, ES, SE, PL.
  • We have started working on the blended-learning course for young people that includes topics such as: Introduction to cultural and creative entrepreneurship, Digital transformation and cultural and creative economy, Essential of entrepreneurship for the cultural and creative sector, Digital tools to develop content, artefacts and products for the cultural and creative sector.
  • We organized online seminars for youth workers in Greece, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Poland to get feedback on the Handbook from the participants.
  • We designed the project website (www.youngcult.eu), and FB profile (@YoungCultentrepreneurs). Follow us!
  • We attended numerous online meetings to plan and sum up every project stage.
  • We had the possibility to meet in person in Kielce (07/07/2022) and Seville (28/03/2023).
  • We familiarised ourselves with the problem of cultural and creative entrepreneurship, and we discovered that there is a lot to do in this matter.
  • and many, many more…

In the near future, we will start the recruiting process for the training. Thus, we warmly invite you to follow us!

Did You know that the Handbook for Youth Workers is available in 6 languages?

Yes, we did it! We have devised the Handbook for the Youth Workers on creative and cultural entrepreneurship and translated it for you. Now it is easy to be available in numerous languages: English, Swedish, Greek, Spanish, Portuguese, and Polish. If you are interested in current trends in cultural and creative entrepreneurship in Europe, how to inspire young people to join cultural entrepreneurship or simply want to know more about our project, we invite you to read it!
